What is an LLM, and how do ChatGPT and Claude decide which companies to recommend?
An LLM (large language model) is the model behind assistants such as ChatGPT and Claude: it reads a question in plain language and writes the answer. With web search on, the assistant searches first, reads a set of pages and then usually names a few companies rather than a long list. Why didn't Claude recognise Recla?
In Recla's brand question, Claude said it could not find a platform called Recla; its search results showed other names such as reclaim.ai and recla.org. Asked again on 25 September, it still could not find it and suggested Rekla.ai and Reclaim.ai as similar names. Perplexity matched the name to Rekla.AI. Why do the lists of firms change?
When the same question is asked to the same engine again, the firms it names can change; in Recla's measurement, what did not change was whether a company was named at all. So one run's list is a sample; what is compared is being named. biCkn4qo
